General protection measures
Original software
Use only original
manufacturer software. Make a work copy of original software that you need to
use every day. Keep your original software in a safe place.
Backup
Back
up your data at regular intervals. Normally it is much more easy to
use a backup than to restore an infected system.

Avoid
using private software. Always check disks and CDs from external
sources for viruses. Always clarify abnormal PC behavior.
If
infected
Make
sure that you clean each and every hard drive, CD, or disk that has
been infected! A single infected file can destroy your entire
system. |
Updates...
...are the most important part of any antivirus
program. For every new version you do not have, there are lots of
new viruses that are not entered in your software. A program version
that is even only a few months old without being updated essentially
no longer provides protection.

If
you detect a new virus or an unfamiliar phenomenon, please send a
copy of the suspicious program to the AVK Internet Ambulance. We

Boot-up
sequence
Many virus problems can be avoided by simply using
the boot-up sequence C:, A:. You can make this setting and change
it as required in the CMOS setup menu (hold down the Del key during
boot-up).
Check
your drives
Whenever you start your
computer ensure that a disk is not in the drive (there is a
danger of boot sector viruses - even if the disk is not a system
disk!).
